PCC (Fairn) to DC (Ral) 29 Dec 1842: "I have given out the blanketts--we have not enough. Abner says it will take 4 more pieces: the article sent is I think a very poor one. tho' it may be good enough for the price. We trust too much to agents. With such large families as you and uncle have, it would be better for one of us to go into market for our supplies."
AC to PCC 8 Jan 1848: speaking of Christmas celebration (included a "John Cooner") -- "hearing Mr. Piper say 'that of all that were here form Stagville, Little River, Eno and all about he saw not one disguised with spirit' even Abner was perfectly sober but poor me I don't think I shall ever want to hear a fiddle again..."
