I was adopted by Mary Etta [my great aunt] and Diamond Newman in Nov 1949. I was born in Lompoc CA to Charlotte and Jack Meeks. He was in the Navy then. I had an older sister named Karen, born in 1944. when Jack was in Huntsville prison in 1951 Charlotte divorced him and married Walter Lewis Bishop in Sierra Blanca TX. He joined the Air Force and retired as a TSGT in 1970 at Klamath Falls OR. Karen's name was apparently changed to Bishop. They were stationed in Hawaii in 1967 and when they came back over Karen stayed in Hawaii. She married and became Karen Park. Walter spent time in England in the A.F.; North Highlands CA, and Oklahoma He lived in Fairfield CA when Charlotte died. Jack Meeks was from Portales NM and died there in 1984. His father Luther Meeks died there in 1973 as a result of a camper fire. My other brother Terry Meeks was shuffled around to family and ended up in the New Mexico Children's Home for awhile before he went to Viet Nam. He died in Fort Sumner NM of a self inflicted gunshot wound on Feb 8, 1967. His grave is in Fort Sumner Cemetery. I would appreciate any leads to this ongoing saga. I found a sister, Theda Joyce Meeks Bonner in Las Cruces, NM 6 years ago.
