Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
My birth name is James Boyd Ellison. born in Terra Haute, Indiana to William B. Ellison and his wife Gladys A. Tvedt.
I was adopted in 1936 by George W. Stime and Violet L. Tvedt, my birth mother's sister.
I always knew I was adopted but did not find out that my father was living in Indianaplolis, Indiana until 6 months after he died in 1990. Since then I have found almost 1800 relatives, both blood and adopted. It has been a interesting trip.
I always thought I was all Norwiegen (sp) on both sides, but found that on the Ellison side I was able to trace back to a full blood Cherokee in North Carolina. My kids took this harder than I did.
There are only 20 living first cousins left on the Tvedt side and have been hinting for the past 2 years for someone in the mid states to have a final reunion as there are cousins on both coasts, with most of them in South Dakota and Minnesota. The average age now (2006) is 74 so time is wasting.
I will add to this as time goes on, and will include my family tree after I figure out how to.
