Peter Rizor (son of George Christopher Rizor and Anna Margaret Fivecoat) was born 28 Aug 1824 in Millersburg, Holmes County, Ohio, and died 04 Apr 1910 in Jefferson County, Iowa. He married Elizabeth Kimmerer on 17 Mar 1853 in Holmes County, Ohio, daughter of Jacob Kimmerer and Stanza McCullough.

Peter Rizor taught school in Iowa and Ohio for 40 years. He was the last of the old school masters in Jefferson County and as a teacher had a reputation of being stern and unyielding once convinced he was right. The moral suasion he trusted in was a tough hickory switch. If there was a scholl hard to govern in the early days, Mr Rizor was sent for and with rod he ruled and forced his scholars to learn the 3 R's.

Tribune, Wed Mar 3, 18976-3 Glendale, Mar 1. Mr Peter Rizor lives in a log house built in 1838, no doubt the oldest residence in the county. Last week with the assistance of neighbors, Mr. Jesse Ferry, raised a new log house which will no doubt be among the last of that class of houses that will be built in the county.

Tribune, Wed. Nov 20, 1907 3-4 Glendale, March 23. Peter Rizor came down from Mystic last week for a visit among relatives. Mr. Rizor lived 50 years in the old log house now erected in Old Settler's Park. (Now Water Works Park)

Jefferson County Republican, Jan. 21, 1910 8-4 Glendale---Uncle Peter Rizor, who is at Mystic, fell and broke his arm last week. Being over 85, it is a severe affliction.

Journal, Mon. April 4 1910 3-2. Peter Rizor, one of the oldest residents of Jefferson County, was found dead in bed this morning at the home of his nephew, George Rizor, one mile east of Glendale, when the family arose...Born in Holmes County, Ohio, nearly 90 years ago. He was a graduate of Kenyon College at Gambier, Ohio, in which state he was married. In 1852 he came to Iowa, locating in Jefferson County. For over 40 years Mr Rizor lived in the old Bonnifield log cabin which now occupies such a prominent place in the Old Settler Park in this city. (Fairfield)

About 10 years ago his wife died and then Mr. Rizor went to make his home with his children, two of whom reside in Mystic. He was contented there for some time but grew to pining for the old Jefferson County home and a short time ago announced his intention of making his home with his nephew, and arrived only last Thursday fro Mystic.
