 Includes NotesNotes for Tom Hand:
After losing both his wife, Nancy, and baby girl to yellow Fever in Florida, Tom returned to Osage County, Missouri and was staying with Nancy's brother William Founte South and his family. The story goes he was sleeping with the oldest child, Leon Frederick who was my grandfather when Tom died in his sleep. Leon told the story saying his mother, Isabella, went into the bedroom and said to Founte, "I think Tom is dead". Grandpa upon hearing that comment flew out of the bed. He said it was something he would never forget. Another story goes that the baby died in Florida and both Lizzie and Tom returned to Missouri.
