I have tried researching my family. All I know that I have found different stories. My great grandfather's name was Alejandro Moroyoqui and was born in Alamos, Sonora. I know from family stories that we are part Spanish and Mayo Indian. I have researched our name and have found heresay from others who are not related to me, but have the same name. One man said he is of Yaqui origin and that he believed that our name meant "fiestero" (partier)and from someone who told me my cousin found the name as being of Basque origin (coinciding with the spelling of the name) and means "Moro" (of Moorish descent) and "y" (and) and "oqui" (of basque descent). I would like to know more. Most of my family lives in Sonora, Mexico and throughout the state of Arizona, USA.
