My family all originated in Pudsey. I am researching the Sunderland & Glover branches. I am particularly interested in John William Sunderland b. 2 July 1848 & his wife Mary Ann. John William was a bridge builder. John William's son Charles taught at the Moravian school in Fulneck, where he met my Grandmother, Francis Elizabeth Glover. Also very interested in my Grandmothers father Jonathan Sted Glover, (Hellfire Jack).b 1850, he was the propriator of the Grocery store in Fullneck. The family mystery is that after Francis Elizabeth and Charles eloped to Rhyll to be married, they returned to Pudsey, and eventually had two sons, George, and my father Arthur. The marriage failed for some reason, and Charles was alleged to have emigrated to Moravia to teach, together with his eldest son George. Francis travelled South and set up home with John Mace in Woolwich, together with my father. My father died without tracing his father and brother. My research shows that John Williams death certificate identifies that Charles was a witness to his death, and at that time he was residing in Upper Mayfair, not Moravia! Any help with this mystery would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to share my research with any interested parties. I have more detailed information relating to relatives of the above. Regards, Arthur Louis John Sunderland.
