Inspiration for my research began with a fruitless family search for the lost brother of Cora B. Peters Smith Gilbert, my maternal grandmother. There is uncertainty about the spelling of this brother's name, which could be Murray, Murrae, or something similar. His middle name was Jennings. (I still have hope of one day seeing him appear on some family page, message board, or...maybe in an email from you!)Their sister was Alma Pearl Peters Bates. They were the children of William Edward Peters and Sarah Hankins. From there, I began a search of both by parents' ancestors, and thus the Peters, Smith, Surratt, and Gerard research. I have obligations to the long labors of many family members, cousins aplenty and many friends. My humble respect and thanks go to each of them.

My family tree is a work in progress, a labor of love and honor for the many who brought us this far on our journey for life. My work is not "written in stone".
