Primarily interested in documenting the descendants of William M. Suttle who settled in McDowell County, NC during the mid 1800s. According to Census records William was born in Tennessee. Prior to McDowell Co. William lived in Cleveland County, NC and had two sons from a previous marriage who were born in South Carolina. Anecdotal evidence points to the Spartanburg SC area but nothing is known of his first wife. Also, the Chesser and related families from Green Cove Springs, Clay County, FL. originally from Chesser Island in the Okefenokee swamp in southeast Georgia.

  Here are both sides (Suttle & Chesser) of my family tree. William Suttle, born in TN during early 1800s, raised two families from separate marriages. They later intermarried. Both Suttle trees are included. The Chesser side descends from Thomas Tennyson Chesser and his wife Lucretia Dedge but also includes some of their ancestors.
