My name is Adam Swilley. I descend from four families: the Bussells, the Swilleys, the Vines, and the Sewells.
On my mother’s side, Edgar Nathan Bussell (May 4, 1911- January 20, 1988) and Hazeltine White (May 9, 1921) got married. They have thirteen kids and they were: Herbert Mitchell (December 18, 1938), Peggy Jean (June 24, 1940), Tommy Edwin (February 25, 1942), Nelmer Hazel (Nell) (September 5, 1943), Cherry Ann (March 10, 1945),Lottie Ruth (February 17, 1947), Loretta Jane (May 21, 1949), Mary Beth (Betsy) (February 15, 1951), Gerry Micheael (August 9, 1952), Zelda Collette (August 16, 1954), Nolan Joffre (Joppie) (August 13, 1955), Edgar Nathan Jr. (January 20, 1957 – April 28, 1957) and Steven Craig (February 17, 1962). Mitchell, who quit smoking cigars when I was born, married Melba Vines, who was Miss Parkers Chapel High when she was a senior in high school, and they have three kids. They were Lorinda, Melinda, and Marshall. Peggy Jean, who is a registered nurse, married Elvis Davis, who is retired from Southwestern Bell, and they have two kids. They were Ricky and Shane. Tommy Edwin, who was in the Navy for four years and then he was a welder, married Dianne Morris and they have two kids name Tonya and Shannon. Nelmer Hazel, who enjoys playing bingo, married R.T. Stevens, who is also a welder. They have three kids named Deanna, Derrick, and Mikki Lynn. Maudie Elaine, married Glenn Wright, who was also in the Navy and now works for Albermarle in Magnolia. While they were in different towns, Elaine enjoyed going to the local stores and trying on hats. They have three kids and their names are Gina, Glenda, and Mary. While Glenn was in the service, they had to travel a lot. Lottie Ruth married Larry Preston, but now they are now divorced, have one kid name Larry Jr. Loretta Jane, was a housewife for year and then became an interior decorator, married Johnny Clemons. They have four kids named John Jr., Kevin, Sam, and Becky. Mary Beth (Betsy), who is a scrub nurse, married Greg Goss, who is an agriculture teacher at Camden Fairview High School, and they have three kids: Ben, Jonathon, and Samantha. Gerry Michael, used to smoke cigarettes out in centerfield during high school baseball games, married Karen Carver and they have two kids named Kathy and Andrea. Zelda Collette, who is a physical therapy nurse, married Billy Kersh. They have two kids named Amanda and Robert Allen. Nolan Joffre, who broke his ankle while showing his two six-year-old great nephews how to skateboard, married Tina Burton and they have two kids named Brandy and Casey. Steven Craig, who drives a truck and is also three years younger than my mother, married Lorrie Sellers. They have two kids named Kimberly and Brandon. Cherry Ann, who always tried to be the modern person, married Joel Saulsbury and they have three kids named Jody, Jeff, and Jason. On the Vines side, Odell Vines and Mary Hogg have three kids. Their names were William, Melba, and Modeane. William married Ossie Staggs. They have one child William Jr. Modeane married Bonnie Roy Bull and they have three kids. Their names are Dianna, Debbie, and Bonnie Jean. Melba married Mitch Bussell and they have three kids: Melinda “Pete”, Marshall Gregory, and Lorinda Marie. Melinda has one child named Noah Daniel Burton. Marshall married Kristie Brewer and have two kids named Joshua Cody and Lucas Ryan. Lorinda married Cliff Thomas Swilley and they have two kids. Their names are Joseph Adam Swilley and Aaron Thomas Swilley (March 2, 1985 – March 13, 1997).
On my father’s side Frank Ernest Swilley and Nellie Flournoy had seven children. Their names are Mary Nell, Frank Ernest, Jr. (Buck), Helen, Carol, Dianne, Calvin, and William Thomas. Mary Nell married Pete Benton. They together have three children and their names are Terry (who’s son is an actor in California), Linda, and Paula.
