My genealogy research is focused on the surnames of SWINT, DAVIES, TOLLESON, BOYD, and HUDDLESTON. These families all had early roots in the State of Georgia, USA; primarily the middle and northern parts of the state.
The SWINT line has been traced and proven as far back as 1773 when John SWINT (who died in 1801) received a fiat for a land grant from the British government in St. Paul's Parish, Colonial Georgia, in what is now Richmond County. I am currently searching when and from where this John SWINT came. Family legend has it that our SWINT line originated in Germany, in the area of Baden-Baden / Heidelberg. This has not been proven -- yet. That is my goal.
The DAVIES line has been proven as far back as Thomas W. DAVIES b. in 1772. DAVIES connects with the HILLEY line in the year 1845 when Mary Elizabeth HILLEY married Thomas' son, John M.F. DAVIES in 1845. The HILLEY line has been thoroughly researched by the Hilley Cousins at www.hilleycousins.com. I am currently focusing on the BOYD-HUDDLESTON line of my maternal grandfather.
