The James Henry Black Family of Alabama & Texas

Updated January 5, 2001

About Our Family Research

I have been researching my Grandfather's ancestry. I have most of his children and grandchildren etc, but I'm having trouble getting past his Father & Mother. I know they were John Calvin & Rebecca Black from Alabama. They had three of their children in Alabama, one being my Grandfather James Henry and one son later in Texas. I found Calvin & Rebecca and the three children on a 1880 census in Madison County Alabama. Also found their marriage date of Dec 19, 1972, but was unable to see the actually marriage license. The marriage license may have listed their mother and father.

We plan to have a reunion of the first cousin, since we are the older generation now and would like to hand out this family tree, but I will not set a date until I am able go back one more generation.

Who are John Calvin & Rebecca Battles Black's parents

J. J. Swonke
