The Hoffelmeyer family of St. Joseph, Missouri can trace thier family history to two Brothers that came to America from the Lemforde and Brockum area of Germany. Heinrich arrived the first time in America July 5, 1865 then returned to Germany to marry his wife then returned in late 1869 and settled in Andrew County Missouri. The second Brother,Wilhelm arrived September 16, 1871 and too settled in Andrew County, Missouri. A third Brother,August age 16, arrived August 29, 1881 and went to live with his Brothers but died a few years later by drowning in a local creek a day before his wedding in 1886. There was also a fourth brother, Frederick, but he traveled to London, England and after the death of his first wife returned back to Lemforde, Germany with his children where it is believed he died. Two of Frederick's children Esther and Rosa both came to America, with Esther arriving from Germany acompanied by her two Uncles Heinrich and Wilhelm in December 1887, then Rosa two years later.
