About Our Family Research

I'm trying to find out where my grandfather came from. What i've
been told over the years is that he was full-blooded indian,of what kind , I have no idea. He was supposedly an indian slave on the steam ships that came into Palatka, Fla. My Great-Grandparents died on a steamship and as I was told, the captain of the ship, whose name was Captain Sykes, raised him as one of his own and gave him the name-Moses Sykes. He married my grandmother,Beulah .. I really don't know where she came from as she is deceased, also. All I know about her is that she is from German descent. I have relatives in Fla. I also have an Aunt Mary and Uncle Bobby Spruill in the state of Tennessee. If anyone out there knows anything that would help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks--- Joy
