IN THE CITY OF LISBON PORTUGAL,LIVED A MERCHANT, JOSEPH SIVERIA, WITH 2 SONS , JOSEF AND MANUEL. IT WAS AT THE TIME OF NAPOLEON'S WAR, AND JOSEPH ENGAGED PASSAGE FOR HIS SONS ON A BOAT TO AMERICA. THE BOYS WERE 18 AND 20 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME.

JOSEF WAS PLACED ON A BOAT TO THE SOUTH. MANUAL LANDED IN PENNSYLVANIA AND LEARNED THE FURRIER TRADE. HE ACCUMULATED ENOUGH MONEY TO TAKE UP A LAND GRANT IN BRADFORD COUNTY, AND HERE HE ESTABLISHED A HOME AND STARTED A FAMILY. HE MARRIED JANET MARSH, A NIECE OF ROBERT MORRIS, IN 1819. THEY RAISED A FAMILY OF 7 SONS AND 3 DAUGHTERS.

JOHN WAS THE 4TH SON OF MANUEL AND JANET. HE MARRIED SARAH BIXBY OF NEW YORK. TO THIS UNION WAS BORN 2 SONS, LaBARRE AND CHARLES. JOHN WAS DROWNED IN A SPRING FLOOD WHILE MOVING HOGS. HIS WIDOW MARRIED ISAAC SONES, AND THEY AND HER BROTHER,CHARLES BIXBY AND WIFE EMILY MOVED TO IOWA. SARAH'S 2 SONS MOVED TO IOWA WITH THEM. LaBARRE MADE HIS HOME WITH THE BIXBY'S WHERE THEY LIVED IN LIBERTY CENTER AND LATER MOVED TO DES MOINES. LaBARRE GREW UP UP AND BECAME LAWYER AND LATER A POLICE JUDGE ALL WHILE LIVING IN DES MOINES, BUT HE NEVER FOUND A WIFE.

THE SONES' MOVED TO A FARM WEST OF NORWOOD. THEY HAD 2 CHILDREN. THE GIRL DIED WHEN ONLY 16. IRA GREW TO MANDHOOD AND MARRIED LUCY MILLS.

IN 1882 CHARLES MARRIED EVALINE HALTOM, DAUGHTER OF TILLMAN AND ELSOME RANDALL HALTOM. TILLMAN WAS BORN IN NORTH CAROLINA AND MOVED TO INDIANA, WHERE HE MARRIED ELSOME RANDALL IN 1853. LATER THEY MOVED TO IOWA, WHERE THEY RAISED 9 DAUGHTERS AND 1 SON. EVALINE WAS THE NEXT TO THE YOUNGEST IN THE FAMIY.

AFTER THEIR MARRIAGE IN 1882, THEY TOOK A CLAIM NEAR GREELEY,NEBRASKA, ALONG WITH HIS MOTHER AND BROTHER IRA SONES. AFTER PROVING UP ON THEIR CLAIM, THEY MOVED BACK TO IOWA. LATER, CHARLES AND EVEALINE AGAIN MOVED BACK TO NEBRASKA. THEY SOLD THE NEBRASKA CLAIM AND ONCE MORE RETURNED TO IOWA, WHERE THEY BOUGHT A FARM WEST OF LUCAS AND MOVED THERE IN 1894. THEY LIVED ON THE FARM UNTIL 1946, AT WHICH TIME THEY THEY RETIRED TO LIVE THE REST OF THEIR LIVES IN CHARITON. THEY HAD 9 CHILDREN. 3 DIED IN INFANCY. PERRY, IRA, GOLDA, ROY, JOHN AND RICHARD ALL GREW UP ON THE FARM WEST OF LUCAS AND ATTENED THE LOCAL SCHOOL.

AS TOLD BY CHARLES AND EVELINE AND WRITTEN DOWN BY THEIR DAUGHTER GOLDA IN 1978.
