The Singer, Szalai, Ringler, Grun, Roth and Naschitz Family

Updated January 6, 2009

About Our Family Research

I and my children are the last survivors of the Singer-Szalai line that I know of.

From family oral history, I know that on my mother's side (Grun, Roth) we were Sephardic Jews and Levites, living in Transylvania before moving to Budapest. Evidently the ancestors of my great grandfather Mihalj Grun had to Germanize their name by order of Josef II in 1787.

My grandfather Ringler had many relatives; he was one of four children that I know of, and they evidently all married and produced off-spring.

I know nothing of my great grandmothers Mathilde Roth and Regina Naschitz.

This summer I will be in Hungary to continue my research into family genealogy. Any information about any of these names would help.
