Updated May 23, 2001

About Our Family Research

Researching Chadwick family line of Point Pleasant NJ, paternal,
Tansley family of Toms River NJ, maternal. Tansley side married Gifford turn of the century-Toms River. Chadwick side married Johnson mid-1800's. At that time, Point Pleasant area was also known as West Point Pleasant and Brick Township. Duck decoy carver Taylor Johnson is my great grandfather. He is listed in antique duck decoy books and was known for the Barnegat Bay carving style. His brother, Willis Johnson was also a noted duck decoy carver. Both men made mostly working and working decorative style decoys. I remember my father said Chadwick were known to be in the Long Branch NJ area sometime in the late 1600's. My mother said her grandfather Tansley came from England in the mid-1800's. Contact me at comanche57@yahoo.com Kathleen Chadwick Szczytko
