View Tree for Charles HyattCharles Hyatt (b. Abt. 1745, d. Abt. 1835)

Charles Hyatt was born Abt. 1745, and died Abt. 1835 in Turkeyfoot, Somerset, Pennsylvania. He married Mrs. Charles Hyatt.

 Includes NotesNotes for Charles Hyatt:
Charles came to Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County PA from Virginia about 1788. At about the same time John Hyatt arrived there also. We assume that John and Charles were brothers though we have no proof of that yet. Another brother, assumed to be, was Hezekiah Hyatt who married Josinah Friend, sister of Susannah Friend, John Hyatt's wife. Hezekiah moved on to Ohio, early 1800's.

There are a number of things that appear to indicate that they were probably brothers. One strange fact is that Charles Hyatt filed a patent on some 340 acres of land near Confluence and this land somehow gets transferred to John Hyatt even though I have found no Grantor/Grantee data to show how this happened.

Charles Hyatt Jr. winds up with some 90 acres of the original 340 but John's sons distribute the rest of the acreage upon his passing. It would be interesting to find out how all this took place, and why. Was it a sale , gift , or what?

We assume that Charles Hyatt Sr. must have passed away about 1837 because that is when Charles Jr. sold his land and moved his family to Monroe County Missouri, along with a group of Turkeyfoot connected family members.

In 1802 Charles Hyatt was on the Tax List for Somerset County PA, showing 104 acres with 12 of those cleared. He listed one horse and one cow.

Children of Charles Hyatt and Mrs. Charles Hyatt are:
  1. +Delilah Hyatt, b. Abt. 1783, Turkeyfoot, Somerset, PA.
