LP Taylor About 1920
Lewis Parrish Taylor (son of Joel Taylor and Almira Parrish) was born January 01, 1841 in Chateaugay, Clinton, NY, and died November 15, 1926 in Oriska Village, Barnes Co., ND. He married Henrietta Young on January 06, 1867 in Wisconsin ?, daughter of William S. Young and Sally Davis.
Notes for Lewis Parrish Taylor: General Land Office Records kept by the Bureau of Land Management show that Lewis Taylor purchased 80 acres in the S ½ SE ¼ of Section 32, TWP 129, R34W in Todd County, Minnesota on June 25, 1885. This land is located near Long Prairie, about 100 miles south and east of White Earth. Then in 1889 the Lewis P. Taylor family moved to North Dakota, first to Tower City, then three years later to Oriska. It may be no more than a coincidence that the Taylor family and the Stillman family lived for a time in the same Fond du Lac area in Wisconsin from about 1857 to 1882 and then again settled near one another in Barnes County ten years later. Death certificate records show that Henrietta died in Minnie Lake Township on March 22, 1914 at age 65 and Lewis died 12 years later on November 15, 1926 living in Oriska at age 85. Lewis probably moved to town after his wife died. It is reputed that Henrietta suffered from diabetes and she may have been the original genetic source of the disease in the Taylor family history. Lewis is remembered as a "short, cute little man with a beard" who liked to whittle whistles for children. He suffered from senility at his advanced age. submitted by Brian Harvey
