This family of Thaxton's of African American decent originated, from what we have found, in Roanoke, Virginia. Robert Thaxton, and his brother, Green, both born during the 1890's, migrated to Massachusetts and Washington, DC respectively, and began families. There has been no known contact, between them, that we know of after the two left Roanoke, circa 1920.

Robert married the former Rose Etta Russell of Lynchburg, VA, and then settled in Springfield, MA in 1920. Together they gave birth to 9 children, but only 8 survived to adulthood. Green fathered 3 children and was married to the former
