The Hein family is in it's first generation, as my father changed his name, but not legally. His name had been Kenneth William Heim, and he changed it to Karl Kenneth Hein. He had a little trouble earlier in his life, and wanted to make a fresh start.
That he did, he met my mother, married her and fathered six children.All of us have the last name of Hein.
Fourteen years later his life was ended abruptly at work in an accident. He was 47 years old, leaving a widow, 34 years old, with six small children, from the ages of 4-12.
He also had 2 children from his previous life, whom miss him also.
I was 9 years old, and didn't know him very well. I have learned more about my father and his family by doing research. It has been wonderful to get to know him and my grandparents and relatives on that side.
Currently I am attempting to find some service information for the time that he served in WWII.
Surnames I research are, HEIM, HALSTEAD, STRAIT, STRATTON, SHELDON, WELLS, MOSS, SMITH, WORDEN, ORVIS.
