Frederick THOMAS-THOMAS, and his wife Emily GOODERSON arrived in Canada from London England in the fall of 1872, settling first in Toronto, then in the spring of 1873 relocated to Ottawa where the London England Civil Engineer became a govenment contract architect.
Among the early projects he worked on included the completion of the West Block of the Parliament Buildings, several bridges for the Canadian Pacific Railway, and numerous churches and private residences in the Ottawa area.
His wife, Emily Ann GOODERSON, was an artist in her own right, being descended from the British (Thomas Youngman)GOODERSON family of artists. In 1888 she painted (watercolour) a manuscript of Psalm 150 that earned her a diploma at the Ottawa Exhibition of 1888 (the Exhibition's first year.) Both the manuscript and the diploma now reside in the Baldwin Room of the Toronto Reference Library.
This web-site is dedicated to the entire Thomas-Thomas family (decendant and ancestral) and is authored by a great-grandson. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, errors may be present and these should be brought to the attention of the author, who will make verifiable corrections.
