I was born in Muncie IN. Lived all my life in Redkey IN. My parents are Gene William and Alice Ruth (Grady) Pyle. I am a widow now; my husband, RC, died in 2007. I have 2 children: Rebecca and Michael. I have been blest with 4 wonderful grandchildren.
I have 3 older sisters: Vicki, Christine (she died in 1963) and Margaret (Peggy); a younger brother Stewart (Stew) and another younger sister Lois.
What started as boredom one day while I was attending Ball State University in 2004 led to a lot of research being done on my family. I was sitting at the computer between classes and typed in one of my great aunt's name: Anna VanderHorst. A whole history had been posted of the VanderHorst and VanGoens family to my amazement. This has led my sister Peggy to do more research on all of our grandparents on both sides. It is so interesting to find out the history of our relatives.
We found out that James Redkey came to Indiana from Ohio, via Richmond, IN. He named the town Redkey after he moved there. He was our great great uncle. His sister came to Redkey to be with her brother. She married and her daughter married my great grandfather. Their son, Arthur Edna Pyle is my grandfather.
