Dear Family-Member(Famierie!),
It all started in the year 2000, after I decided to take upon me the task to write down all I remembered about our ancestors. This happened after my cousin Imro D. asked me if have any information about our family and/or family history.
I came to this decision because, after all, I was the one(of my generation) with the privilege to know all the members of the family of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th generation in our family. I am the one to be considered the oldest granddaughter of Stephanus Carolus 'TKP'. But most of all I have also lived in the 'famous' house, at the 'Saramaccastraat 19', where the 3rd generation have once lived years ago.
While I was still very young, some of them still visited 'aunt Mary' on a regular basis: so i had the privelege to personally know many great-aunts &-uncles(the 3rd gen.), know all the aunts & uncles of the 4th generation & as the years pass by also all members of the rest of the family.
Moreover I got to know all the 'family-connections', special relations and 'inside-stories'
By saying 'family-connections' I mean all the inlaws, second & third cousins etc. etc.
I had to 'dig-into' the Dutch Colonial Archives, e.g. into the "Chinese Emigrants between 1853 and 1900" to come up with some historical dates.
Our family history (the chinese part) started back in the 1800's, when my/our great-great-great-Grandparents decided to leave China (name of the village was Wytjoe) and went to Suriname(then a colony of the Netherlands) to work as free field-contractors on one of the many plantations owned by Europeans (Dutch, French & English).
According to historical data, Kwan-Paw and his wife A-Tai, arrived together in Surinam on March 1866. His last name was "Tjon" and her maiden name was "Shi".
(I guess that in an English spoken country they would have written her name as "Chee")
This man, named Tjon(1st name: Kwan-Paw, family-name: Tjon), was the grandfather of my grandfather. The name of the last-mentioned was: Stephanus Carolus Tjon-Kwan-Paw.

But I also have another Home-Page on a Dutch web-site (in Dutch of course) with more detailed information, especially about the present generation(s; with pictures, updated family trees & all kind of resent information.
I've also organized some Family-Reunions, in order to let most of the members 'get-to-know' each other.
