I have been researching my family history for the past 10 years. I have 2 lines of German ancestors as well as English and Irish.
I have put together a "book" on Father's paternal ancestors (WINKLER)which I had published in 1998 to co-incide with a Family reunion I organised and was held on 27th september 1998 at Grafton N.S.W., Australia. This coincidentally was almost 140 years since this family arrived in Australia (November 1858, from Germany. Since then I have been able to find distant relations still living in Germany.
My Mothers maternal line is also German (SCHEIBEL) and they also arrived in Australia about the same time.
The other names I am researching is PERRY, GRAHAM and COLES.
I have also researched my husband's ancestors. His TOLLIS ancestor was a member of the "Red Coats". A company of soldiers who were virtually "the law" in Sydney in the early years of collinisation.
