Helena Olkowska immigrated to Delaware from Poland in 1910. Her future husband, Czeslaw (Jesse) Kolakowski arrived from Poland in 1911. Meeting through mutual friends, they married in 1912 in the Polish parish of St. Hedwig in Wilmington, DE. Their first 4 children, Teddy, Sophie, Irene & Tessie were born in Wilmington. The family then moved back to Poland where Jean & Helen were born. Because of immigration restrictions in 1929, Czeslaw & Helena, along with the 3 youngest children immigrated to Canada. Their son Thomas was born there before their return to Delaware in 1934. Czeslaw entered into farming. Their children, now grown, married and settled in Delaware, had children of their own. Most of the family still live in Delaware. There is still an ongoing communication to the Kolakowski family still living in the Przasnysz region of Poland. A third, official, organized family reunion is being planned for the family this year.
