I, Mary "Dee" Trahan-Leger, born December 31, 1942 am a history buff since the early age of sixteen. Researching from the past my family's beginnings, I enjoyed emencely the visits to the older generation of my time in the 1950's. I would ask my aunts and uncles along with my parents the names of their parents' parents and siblings. I usually got the nicknames but it was a start. I married very young at the age of sixteen just a few days before my seventeenth birthday on December 26, 1959 to LeRoy Leger in the small town of Hayes, Louisiana.
My meager research began in earnest when on our 1st Wedding Anniversary, Roy gave me a large book of The Holy Bible having the forms of recordings for our family members. The Holy Bible is still in use today and has been handed down to our youngest son, Byron "Chad" Leger, whom I live with now in Joliet, Illinois.
From the 1950's to 2005 I have maintained the growth of our families both present and past and will continue to do so as long as I am able. Researching both the TRAHAN family and the LEGER family for I am a decendant of GUILLAUME TRAHAN and MADELEINE BRUN and LeRoy Leger is the decendant of JACQUES LEGER, HUSBAND OF GUILLAUME TRAHAN'S DAUGHTER ANNE MAGDELINE TRAHAN.
I list both our families on this site in hopes that our extended families may get to know their ancestors and learn the history behind them.
