Added just a couple of things to start the new year off right - One of these days I will get all the corruption out! Watch out for that Korea/Cemetery thing - and please let me know if you KNOW of a correction - I have most of the messages, but I want to be sure - Those of you who want to know what was in Aletha's book will still be able to tell - I will leave the information in that tells what and where I got from the book. Happy Ghost Hunting! Rosie & Mike
***** I just noticed another bit of corruption that I have to figure out how to fix ... you may see "KOREA" where "Cemetery" should be in some of the reports - and something else where it should say "Soundex" - with 5000 + people tracking and fixing this may take some time - so be patient - but be aware *****
Reports have all been updated as of 1 January 2002 for the "Tuck" side of the family. - With the emphasis on the Tuck descendants of John and Edward Tuck from Halifax County, Virginia - c. 1700 - Probably sons of Bennett Tuck - hence the report goes from Bennett on to try to encompass everyone. Please note that I have found that there are inadvertent errors in the Herculean efforts of Aletha Jane Macon – author of the book that has been the basis for so much of my input. As these updates are found and pointed out to me, I will post corrections, so, please be aware of this – and let me know if you find something – Also, please know that I will note you as the correcting source of information.
There is a wonderful Tuck Forum on the myfamily.com site – Also Genforum.com has an area to exchange information and even see great pictures -
HARTY - Michael and Bridget Bennett from Co. Kerry and Tipperary Ireland - Emigrated through Canada c. 1880 - Settled in Youngstown, Ohio. There is a family picture area on the myfamily.com site that people interested should check out. I would appreciate any and all information on this line of my family. The Harty/Virkler link has been almost as elusive as the Yankowski’s. – Now I find that as common a name as Tuck may be, Harty in Ireland and Yankowski in Poland are two names that encompass forests, not trees. If you think you may be linked – please let me know.
VIRKLER- Ed (born Ed LUCAS somewhere in Upstate New York 1883-1890 - took the name Virkler from his mother's 2nd husband. Disappeared in 1919 from Cleveland, Ohio.
YANKOWSKI- AKA Jankowski/Jankoski/Yankoski from the Rutland, VT area - late 1800's - Father John and "mail order bride" Mary Kurik of Krakow, Poland.
TUCK- descendants of John &/or Edward Tuck of Halifax Co. Virginia in the 1700's – predominately.
