Tuialii is from the village of Laulii in Samoa. My grandfather named Pupualii Tuuu Afa previously holds the title Tuialii then he gave it to his brother Pio via customary traditions. He then took up the name Pupualii from Matautu-uta.

He was a deacon (Fesoasoani) to the Catholic church. He has a couple of wives that gave him around 20 children.
