Notes for Muriel Stuart: After the birth of John Douglas and Muriel were told the chances of anothe Mongol child were minimal and the idea that a brother or sister for John was a good idea. In March 1951, Muriel, halfway through her next pregnancy and on her first routine check was diagnosed with a malignant growth on her left breast. She was immediately despatched to Guys Hospital where the embroyo life, which was declared normal, was urgently removed. Muriel died on the 23rd April 1952 at Kings Langley, Herts.
