I have just recently begun tracing my roots. My husband and I went to Ireland last year and went to the town where his father was born. We visited the church and were shown the original handwritten records from 1894 verifying that his father was born and baptised in Feakle, County Clare Ireland. We learned the birth dates of his father's siblings and visited the local cemetary in Feakle. We took photos of all of the graves with the name Tuohy for future reference.
My mother recently passed away and I found a treasure trove of genealogical information in her belongings. My grandfather's birth certificate from Paraguay was there along with various types of information about my grandparents and aunts and uncles that I am just beginning to look at. My mother and grandmother apparently saved everything, including school records and letters.
I am also contacting relatives to ask for their information so I can include it in my family tree and they can view it on my home page.
