Basil William (Bill) Twerdo(c)hlib was born on August 18, 1886 in Starjy Witkiw which I'm assuming right now to be a village on a disputable border because different documents contradict one another regarding birthplace (it is either Austria or Ukraine). His parents were John Twerdochlib and Annie (Maria)[Basil's death registration gives his mother's name as Annie, whereas his marriage registration gives his mother's name as Maria] (nee Soloury, Solowry or Solowy - handwriting on documents is difficult to decipher). The information that I have gives the birthplace of Basil's parents as Austria. Basil married Anne Wynnyk (b.10/15/1894 in Radwance, Austria) on 11 May 1915 in Kopernick, Alberta. They had 8 children: Sally (b.2/3/15), John (b.2/17/16), Nick (b.12/17/17), Mary (b.8/10/19), Stella (b.8/10/19), Peter (b.6/13/24), Katie (b. 7/3/26), and Walter (b. 7/25/31). The family lived in the Iron River area in Alberta. Anne passed away in January 1936. COD presumably cancer. Basil died 23 May 1953 in Cold Lake, AB. COD "head on collision - - - two cars" on 22 May 1953...injuries sustained "multiple fractures of - - - of - - - chest." Basil and Anne are both buried in Iron River Cemetary. Details of Basil's siblings are sketchy. One sibling known to be Nancy (Pewar). DOB unknown. Unknown whether she is still alive, or names of husband or children or where they reside(d). Unknown as to whether or not there are other siblings.
