About Our Family Research

My family tree is cut short in far too many places. Somewhere in the 1920's, 30's, and 40's, many people in my family were displaced, were forced to run, hide, or change their names and identities because of the famous Purges of the Stalinist era. As a result, my family tree ends at the fourth generation.

I've always been extremely interested in my ancestors - who they were, where they came from, how they lived, etc. I've also always wanted to expand my family and meet more of the people to whom I am related, however distantly.

Furthermore, to add to the mysteries surrounding the disappearances of branches of my family, I recently learned a new story.

About 5 genenrations ago (somewhere between 1905 and 1915), a part of my family emmigrated from Russia to America. In the years from 1993 to 1994, the last three generations of my family(including mine) immigrated to America as well. When we first came, we believed that we were the first - and all - of the members of our family to come to America. When I found out we weren't (from my great-Aunt's recollection of recieving a letter from the branch that emmigrated in the early 20th century), I became fascinated with genealogy and the mystery of what happened to the part of my family that disappeared.

Please feel free to e-mail/contact me if any of this rings any bells, however old and dusty, or however faint and unlikely.

My e-mail is kittiewhirl1677@aim.com.
