George Udale of Manchester England Updated May 22, 2006
About Our Family Research
George Udale was born to Mary Ellen Udale(father unknown),in the Workhouse, Bridge Street, Manchester, England on 09 april 1900. She was at least 40 years old at the time.
It is believed that he had three brothers. It is not known if they were older or younger than George. One of them moved to Bristol and became a Stone Mason, one emigrated to The United States of America and built up a Paint Factory business, the other one emigrated to New Zealand and became a Sheep Farmer. This information was given to me by my step sister Ivy (now desceased). She is the only child of his first marriage to Minnie Lilian Heavyside who was thought to originate from Ulveston, Cumbria, England.
I am trying to trace futher back for Mary Ellen Udale but the Work House records for the year 1900 are not yet available. I would like to trace any Udale's in either Bristol UK, America or New Zealand to establish a link with Mary Ellen Udale. I think I have traced her in the 1881 census. Her father's name is Robert Udale and mother Mary Udale - no maiden name yet found. The address is listed as 20 Newton Street Manchester.
