Talking with family members I have learned that my family ' the Underwood's ' came up from Kentucky along with families named Hook, Jines, Aydt and Waugh in a covered wagon train in the mid 1800's and settled in Hamilton County illinois. Children from these families married and those names mentioned are found in the Underwood family research. Now the descendents of these families are spread out all over the U.S.A. I am attempting to trace and fill in as much information on the Underwoods and other family names directly in my ancestry for my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as I possibly can. When I ran across my history.org in my copy of the Family Tree Maker, I wanted to try it out. In the past couple of years, thanks to the great volunteers at St. Louis Genealogical Society, I have now accumulated close to 6000 names in the family files of my wife's family and mine, and thanks to the fantastic information now found on genealogy.com and several other web sites, I am filling in the facts from the census, death records, marriage records and other vital records to prove information found in bits and pieces over the last couple of years.
