The Underwood Family of America

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

My family research has lead me to the fact that the Underwood family is originally from the British Idles. My family history in the U.S. starts in Virginia and goes to North Caroina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Southern Illinois. I have reason to believe a wagon train left Kentucky in the middle 1800's and arrived in Southern Illinois with the following five families in the group, Underwood's, Hook's, Jines, Waugh's and Aydt's. The cemeteries in Hamilton County Illinois is loaded with these names and I am beginning to see them show up in my family tree ancestry background, in marriages associated with the Underwood family history. Altough now the current family is located from border to border and coast to coast, this is the origin of many of those family histories from the late 1700's through 1800 and the 1900's.
