His name on the ship's list was Franz and he seemed to be called Frank after that, and died September 01, 1894 in Spruce Creek, Iowa. He married Margaret Portz on December 29, 1858 in St. Donatua, Iowa, daughter of John Portz and Angela Schrall.

In September, 2002 visited St. Donatus, Iowa, which is the areas where t he Capesiuses emigrated to in 1850. We visited the St. Nicolas Cemetary w hich is all that is left of Spruce Creek, Iowa. There to our complete sur prise and excitement, we found the headstones of John Peter Capesius (1797 ), John Peter (Frank) (1831), Anna Bechen Capesius (1792), Margaret Por tz (1834), Elisabeth Capesius (1863), and a Margaret Portz (1834). The re were other Capesius headstones iin the cemetary but there is no proof t hat they are related. As it turned out there are many Capesius famili es in the area and none are sure of their ancestry.

On the headstone of John Peter (Frank), 1831-1894 was a inscription writt en in German which translates to:
At last you have gotten through many, difficult hard hours. You have h ad many difficult
days and nights. At last you can close your eyes.

(Can you imagine how difficult the time was for his father, John Peter, 17 97, who emigrated in 1850.)
