The Updegraphs of Western Pennsylvania

Updated February 17, 2002

About Our Family Research

This branch of the Updegraphs trace their roots to Isaac and Mary Updegraph believed to be of New Jersey/Delaware origin and who moved to Fayette County, PA, about 1798. Their children Lucinda/Lucretia, Elizabeth and Abraham settled in the Butler/Lawrence County area of PA and Peter settled in Pittsburgh.

About 1813 the four children began migrating northward and by the 1830s were living in Butler and/or Lawrence County, PA. This web cite will deal mainly with Abraham's descendants, although we hope to add information about Abraham's siblings and their families.

In the first three generations the Updegraphs are intermarried with the following family names in and around Butler and Lawrence County, PA: Beatty, Alexander, Fields, Mitchell, Gahagan, Baker,Mitchiltree, Pander, Baker, Murphy, Palmer, Canan, Lary, Ralston, Parks, Rutter, Latschaw, Clark, Latschar, Twiss, Smith, Fisher, Currie, Kemerling, Hays, Kelly.
