The Gardner name dates back to the 1600s in France and gets the name for being the guardian of the castle.
From France the name and family travels to Palatine area of Germany then to England, Scotland, County Monagham ,Ireland then on to America with other 400,000 Scots-Irish.
The name John Gardner(Scots-Irish) was found in documentation located in Lancaster County, Pa. in 1710.
