About Our Family Research

I wa born to Albert Arthur Leib and Ruth Pauline (Phillips) Leib. I am the 6th child out of nine children. My Leib ancestoral trail begin in Bavaria Germany. Ulrich Leib (meaning Old Ruler) was born in Germany in the early 1700's. Because of religious persecution from the Roman Catholic Church in France and Germany, they had to leave to worship as a protestant. They emigrated to Amsterdam via the Rhine River, and left on the ship Mollie headed for the new world. They landed first in Philadelphia and then homesteaded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Ulrich Leib had several children, our descendent was Ulrich Leib the second who married Elizabeth Huber. He served in the American Revolutionary War. His son Joseph, left Pennyslvania for the western part of the United States. He landed in Breman, Fairfield County, Ohio. The old German had several children (Joseph) one being John Henry Leib who was my direct descendent. John Henry married Elizabeth Williams (but both were born in Pennsylvania). They emigrated to LaGrange Indiana and had several children. Benjamin Franklin Leib married forst Caroline Wilson and had several children. They moved again to the South West Township in Crawford County, Illinois. Caroline (nickmamed Callie) died and Benjamin remarried . He married Mary (Mollie) Jane Fowler, and had a son named Frederick. Mollie died in 1899 and Benjamin died in May of 1900. Frederick married Amelia Goff and to them, my father was born, Arthur Albert Leib. Arthur Albert (nickmamed Cotton) married Ruth Pauline Phillips and had nine children. I am the product of that relationship.
