I'm doing research in all directions, wherever the roots lead me. The family names I'm working on are: Babcock (birth name Wickes), Monroe, Cappel, Dewey, on my father's side, and on my mother's side: Hollister, Bruce, Wilbur (I have gone back to John Alden), Colegrove, Hendershot, Vann, Hopkins, Baker, Leonard, Lanning, and more.

I'm searching for adoption records of John Wesley Babcock, born Wickes or Wicks (see tree). Born 11/26/1851 in Ellicot, NY. I don't know his mother's name, father's name, Wickes side, except he had two sisters, one married a Babcock (coincidentally).
I'm also trying to trace van Leers in Holland, Netherlands back to their Jewish roots in Bavaria, Germany (my ex-husband's family).
