THE ARCHAMBAULT, DAVIS AND WRIGHT FAMILIES OF CLARE MICHIGAN

Updated April 10, 2001

About Our Family Research

My Archambault ancestors were Huguenots who fled to Canada from France in the 1600's and helped in the founding of Montreal Canada. I am trying to complete my family tree to France, to include my Canadian family. My first known grandparents to live in the United States of America are ANTOINE and CAROLINE (ALCOCK) ARCHAMBOULT who moved from Canada to Isabella County Michigan prior to 1870.

Antoine and Caroline had 6 children: Josepth John (b.1895,
William (b.1856),Fannie(b.1858), Sophia (b.1863)George Antoine (b. 1860) and my Great Grandfather, Robert Stephen Saxby Archamboult (b.1863).

Robert married Isabel Baker, daughter of John Julia Baker, on July 4, 1886 in Isabella County, Michigan. They had Robert, Michael, Catherine, Durwin, Althea and my Grandfather, William Jennings Bryan (Jennings) Archambault, born 1896.

Jennings married Gretchen Howarth, and their children are:
Virgina Ernestine, William, Joan, Joyce and my dad, Merle Duane Archambault, all born in Clare Michigan.

My maternal ancestors Davis and Wright lived in the Clare area in the 1800's. My Great Great Grandfather Davis owned a farm north east of Clare, Michigan in the 1800's. My Great Grandmother is LOUELLA DAVIS born about 1876. She married HARVEY BERNARD WRIGHT and they had 3 sons: BERNARD HARVEY born about 1895, GEORGE EDWIN born about 1899 and my grandfather, CHARLES MARION WRIGHT born 30 January 1897.
