Dear Reader.

As the last male descendant of my family, I'm researching its origin. The name first appeared around 1200, but our traceable lineage starts in 1385 (in a direct line) in the eastern part of the Netherlands. I suspect earlier descendants are to be found in archives around Münster in Germany.

I would be very interested to recieve ANY information regarding our name or artifacts you might have seen bearing the family crest (a red house on a golden shield, topped with a crowned helmet and two armoured fists). The name was also spelled as: van Grootenhuis / van Grootenhuys / van Groothuis / ten Grotenhuys or von Gruethuess.

Please note: ONLY the name with the prefix "van" or "ten" or "von" will be relevant!
