My oldest known forfather was HENDRICK VAN RAAM, born in Balgoy (The Netherlands)about 1660, who went to Amsterdam and married there in 1687 to BRECHIE SMOUT. Being married to a woman named HALFF I got interested in her ancestors.The oldest person with the surname HALFF we found was LEENDERT JACOBSZ, born in 1655 in Egmond aan Zee (The Netherlands). He was the 3rd child of JACOB KLAASZ KOENDERT and MAARTJE JACOBS. The father of Jacob, KLAAS KOENDERTSZ, and his parents were named KOENDERT JANSZ and NEELTJE KLAAS.
