The VanSickle Family from Jamison City, PA.

Updated November 6, 2001

About Our Family Research

Our family research was started by my father, Harold E. VanSickle, who was born Sep 11, 1912 and just passed away this year, Mar 26, 2001. He was our patriarch and possessed many photographs and news clippings from the past. As my Dad got older, Bob Brown and Edward C. Keller Jr., my cousins, took over the research. They visited cemeteries, churches, court houses, and other places of legal documents. Now, My cousin Ed and I do most of the research. My name is Harold E. VanSickle, Jr. b(1944) and most of my research is done on the "information highway" via searches, maintaining a web page for others to find us(thevansickles.com), and various email replies made through fine forums such as genealogy.com.
We are located in Central Pennsylvania and hold an annual reunion on the 2nd Sunday of July, every year, beginning at 12:30pm and lasting until we leave. It is held at the Grassmere Park in the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania, near the small towns of Benton and Central. It is "open" to all VanSickles regardless of ancestory (bring a covered dish). We can verify our roots back to John W. VanSickle b.(1817) who married Mary Force b.(1809) and they had seven children. We also know John had a sister known as Kate (Catherine, Katherine??). We believe John moved to Jamison City, PA from New Jersey (Somerset or Sussex) and that his father's name was James; however, we can not verify this.
