About Our Family Research

We have published and sold more than six hundred copies of books on the Vanlandingham/Vallandingham/Vallandigham families. Our immigrant ancestor, Michael, migrated to America from Flanders, Europe about 1650, bought 450 acres in Virginia on the Potomac River near Chotanck Creek, a few miles upriver from the present bridge over the Potomac on Hwy. 301. After Michael had lived on his plantation a few years the first of the Washington family, John Washington, great grandfather of George, came from England and became a neighbor of Michael. Members of the Vanlandingham family served in the Revolutionary War, in Indian wars, in the War of 112, the Civil War, and all other wars in which the U.S. has been involved.
