Bogner / McCumber family of West Michigan

Updated December 25, 2004

About Our Family Research

Hi there! Please bear with me as I try to get this thing going. My tree has approx. 2000 individuals, but there will not be any living people listed in this tree, therefore, I'm starting with my grandparents. Most of my info is from my parents, and papers written by various great-aunts and grandparents.
Common names for this tree are:
BOGNER - HAACKMAN - ZAHM - PAILLOZ(PIO)- MCCUMBER - GATES -
MANCHESTER - CHARLAN - CHARLAND - GRENNELL
These names are mostly from France and Germany, immigrating here to the US and moving to the midwest, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. The McCumber's were from Hastings County, Ontario Canada. In 2000, my sister and I made a trip to the 'homeland' in Hastings county, and met up with a distant cousin and his wife. They graciously showed us the cemetery were rumor has it about 30 McCumbers have been buried, and fed us a wonderful lunch. It was so cool!
I also will be posting my hubby's lineage as far as I know it. Lots of Dutch and Scottish in this one. VanderVeere/Veer/Vere and McIntyre.
I'd like to especially thank Alice King (my Charland connection) and Terri Gormley (my Pio connection) Terri wrote a family book on the PAILLOZ/PIO family, a wonderful book! If you have any questions on this family, just email me, and I can direct you her way. Alice gave me the names of my Charland people, all the way to 1600, starting with Jean Nicolet and wife, Jeanne Nippissing, an 'indian savage' of the 'Mountain of the two lakes' tribe, Algonquin nation, Quebec. It's also rumored that Francoise Gignac is also a possible Native, but has never been proven by anyone yet.
All people in the BOGNER/MCCUMBER tree published here, with the exception of myself and my Mom, are now deceased. So, if you have any questions,

Thanks for your patience!
