The Grzybowski Family Tree

Updated June 24, 2010

About Our Family Research

After much research, I finally established the meaning of the Surname GRZYBOWSKI. Grzybowski originated as a reference to the association y, ow, owo, owa, etc. It is certain that the place name is grzyb, "mushroom", one associated with the place of mushrooms.
As of 1990, there were 14,498 Polish citizens named Grzybowski, living all over the country.
Through my research I found that Edward Pienkowski is buried below Eva. Due to the fact that a cemetary box did not exist when he was buried in 1915, by the time Eva was buried there, there were no remains of Edward left. The plot was purchased in 1911 and Edward was buried there on 12-7-1915. For quite some time it bothered me as to whom Edward was and why he was the first to be buried on the Grzybowski burial plot. I found that Edward was a nephew to Michal.
Yes! Michal IS spelled without the "e".
Michal and Stanislawa arrived on American soil sometime around 1890. Michal and Stanislawa gave birth to Eva and her twin who were born on the boat in route to America.
In the "old" Polish language, the last name if ending in "ski" if male gender stayed that way. If the gender was female it changed to "ska". Today if the last name ends in "ski" then it remains that way.
THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO:

My Great-Grandfather Michal and Great-Grandmother Stanislawa. Without them, there would be not a page to this book.
Without them, I would not have the most wonderful family anyone could ever hope to have in life.
My Mother, Florence who taught me how important family is. Who instilled within me memories of her father, mother, aunts, uncles and cousins which made me want to learn more and know these images and their histories.
My family....without your assistance, this book would not be possible. This endeavor would not be complete without EACH and every single person feeding me what it is that I needed to make this. This is for you, for your children, your children's children and their children AND if the pages within this book last that long...their children.
May you enjoy this book for years to come. Often looking back upon it, smiling, and remembering. In doing this, I hope that you begin to feel what I have felt in making this. Hopefully, realizing within yourselves that those that have passed before us are really not dead. They speak to us through the pages of this book. They helped to complete it. They are alive in each and every page.
