I have few tools or skills in research but every 'find' is like a treasure to me. I am searching for trees starting with my faternal great grandfather, L.Jefferson Smith of Monroe Co. TN and his wife, Nancy Christmon. I also would love to find info on the Fate Wiggins family from Western NC. Other family names include Brendle, Sitton, Isbell. I can't seem to get anywhere with the Smiths in particular.
I could use some information and hints about priorities in this search project. Do I look for records on line? Do I have to physically visit courthouses, state archives? What is it valuable to copy?
