Nils van Ammers of Pensylvannia has seen indications of a Jan van Ammers living in 1120 AD. Thanks to Jeanne van Ammers-Douwes, wife of my cousin Eric van Ammers in the Netherlands and Robert van Ammers also in the Netherlands, I have data showing a Jan van Ammers born in 1610. He had a son, Klaas (Claese) Jansz. van Ammers, born in Vianen, Netherlands, who lived from 1635 to 1690. The Jan van Ammers born in 1610 was my great great great great great great great great grandfather. That's 6 greats.
Most, if not all of the van Ammers clan that I have met descended from a Frank van Ammers, a school master in Beets, the Netherlands. This Frank van Ammers was born in Zuilen, the Netherlands on 1757-03-20 (I write dates with the most significant part on the left (just as we do with numbers), so the year is on the left and the month is in the middle
I am creating a facebook page for discussions of the van Ammers family tree. It will probably be managed, at least initially by myself and by Nils van Ammers.
